Sherman Hemsley aka George Jefferson
He died at 74 – having lived a good life, tickling us to bits as the irascible George Jefferson who ‘moved on up’ and carried his cantankerousness with him.
Something you might not know, and which most media is shying away from: Hemsley never married, and never had any children. Wink, wink.
Hemsley is gone but George Jefferson will surely live on long after him on late night cable television.
